Sometimes you need a little help to set the mood for a tarot reading. Music can block out the noisy neighbor, the frustrating day you just had, or simply bring you from the ordinary world into a space of calm introspection. It’s also hugely helpful when reading for others who might be nervous or skeptical. In this series of posts I wanted to highlight the artists and albums that get me all ready for divination.
If you have a television you have probably heard Zoe Keating‘s music before. Her work is modern ambient classical with lots of cello that makes for great background or theme music. (Sherlock, The Returned, and Manhattan are a few examples.) Despite her commercial success, Zoe’s music is far from expected or packaged and always has an eerie, edgy quality to it. I have Into The Trees as well as Natoma, both purchased as digital downloads directly from her website. You can get a complete listen to her work there as well. If you like it I’d encourage you to buy it, and pay full price or more. As an independent, rather anti-establishment artist, she lets you pay what you like. But, as truly original art is hard to find, do what you can to support the artist who is, now after the death of her husband, a single mother.
