(For the past 5 years I have used the same journal prompts in December for my personal blog Hurry Slowly. Inspired by the #Reverb10 prompts, I have kept the best and added a few of my own. Interestingly enough, I have 22 favorite prompts, and they match up nicely with the Major Arcana, so this year I’ve decided to call it #TrumpTheYear.)
THE MOON. Unconscious Writing. Write for 7 consecutive minutes on the word “wild” as it pertains to this past year. No editing. Set a timer and go.
You walked a lot in the wilderness this year. You hiked up mountains and alongside creeks. You put your feet in icy water. You watched the sunrise over a meadow covered in purple flowers. You wandered, only loosely following a path and settling on a plan each morning.
You also wandered about at work, trying new thing. People think you have pretty wild ideas, but they like them. You still have no idea what you are doing. It still feels like you are in the wilderness, but you set a plan that day and do your best.
You were wild with fear this year upon hearing that people were hurt, people had died, people had lost children.
You were wild with rage at your neighbors for being so damned noisy. How dare they make your home anything other than a sanctuary. This is where you come to after wandering in the wilderness.
You were wild with crazy ideas that worked this year. Like a blog. It’s a great feeling.
There is a path, but it’s not one anyone else can see. You can’t even see it. You can only feel it. You know when you are on it. You know when you have strayed. There is no instruction or help beyond that.
