Light Grey Tarot Deck Interview

Light Grey Tarot Interview.jpeg

It’s a great idea to ‘interview’ a new deck before you start to work with it, and many people rely on the following 6 card spread in that process for an effective intuitive exercise. (Six, you say? I often see seven (or eight!) in these posts. Yup, I can’t resist making this a Seven Card Spread.)

Notes on Spread: 3 Majors. This deck makes a point. Also, 2 8’s and a 7. Those are numbers of the final part of a situation – perhaps pointing to a great deck for readings when you need an answer to a question that’s not so basic. Not about the start of a project, but how to finish something.

1. Tell me about yourself. What is your most important characteristic?

The Lovers. If this card could speak it would say: “I am the result of  a partnership between 78 people. That’s a lot of passion, and a lot of compromise. I am a great deck to read with when you need to related to lots of different people, or express all the aspects of your personality.”

2. What are your strengths as a deck?

Knight of Disks.  This card says: “I am all about the practicalities. I will talk about real-world solutions.”

3. What are your limits as a deck?

8 of Disks. I think this card says, “A great deal of handiwork went into this deck. 78 different cooks. That might be distracting to some.”

4. What do you bring to the table? What lessons can you teach me?

8 of Wands. “I’m fast! My readings aren’t very deep, but they do have the benefit of being easy to read and easy to act upon.”

5. How can I best learn from and collaborate with you?

The Fool. Can you see that’s a plastic grocery bag over his shoulder? How perfect is that!?!? Also, he looks like the misunderstood monster from Goonies. That brings a whole new level to this. Love it! This card is all about staying open to wisdom and guidance no matter where it comes from.

6. What is the potential outcome of our working relationship?

7 of Swords. Lately I’ve been developing a whole new understanding of this card. Sometimes it’s about lies. But it’s also about oppression, and doing whatever it takes to get out of a bat situation. She says, “I’ll give you eyes in the back of your head for potential problems.”

7. Anything else I should know? Any question I didn’t ask?

Judgement.  A card a tarot teacher once told me was about ‘calling things forth from stasis.’ So this angel says,  “when you read with me, be ready to act in accord.”
